How to find the best hotels in Las Vegas
Finding the perfect accommodation in Las Vegas is not the nightmare that it can be in other U.S. cities like San Francisco or New York. The interesting areas are much more limited, so the only difficult thing is to choose from such a wide variety of hotels!
If you follow these tips when looking for a hotel in Las Vegas, you're sure to find your perfect accommodation. We've been there several times, take our advice! 😊
- Focus your search on the 2 main areas. If you travel to Las Vegas is to know the madness of this city, both day and night. For this reason we advise you to look in the Strip or Downtown (more about each area later). To save a few Dollars don't go to more distant areas where there's nothing interesting, because you'll pay for it in unnecessary displacements.
- Book a hotel with a score above 7.5.
- Always read the guest reviews (and sort them by most recent). This is where you'll see the real pros and cons of each hotel. On Booking.com, which is the platform we always use, you can filter by language or even use the option to translate the review.
- Choose a hotel in Las Vegas with a pool if you go from May to September. This city is located in the middle of the desert and temperatures during these months are criminal 🔥, it's very likely that you feel like a cool swim! See below to find out which hotels have pool.
- Choose an accommodation with parking if you go with a rental car to Las Vegas. We'll also give you options with free parking 😉.
- Avoid weekends. Fares can double in price, plus the city (already crowded) gets even more.
- Don't add breakfast (unless it's included by default). They're usually quite expensive and you're sure to find cheaper options for breakfast on the street.
- Confirm that taxes are included in your reservation (and don't get any surprises!). Booking.com always tells you both at the beginning and at the end of the reservation. The lodgings in Las Vegas have the following taxes:
- Transient Lodging Tax: 13.38%
- Resort Fee: optional tax (not all hotels have it). The amount is chosen by the hotel itself for the use of its facilities and ranges from $10 to $50 per night. It's a stealth price hike! Although it isn't easy to find them, there're hotels in Las Vegas without Resort Fee and we'll tell you more about them below.
- Many hotels (this is something generalized in the USA) may ask you for a deposit of variable amount that they return to you once you've left the room without damages. Keep this in mind so that you have enough money on your credit card.

Hotels on Las Vegas Strip
The Strip is the best area to stay in Las Vegas. Well, enough said! 😅
It's a section of about 7km (4.4 miles) of Las Vegas Boulevard and where all the themed hotels, casinos, shows and nightclubs are concentrated. In short: the heart of the city. For a first time in Las Vegas our recommendation is that you stay in this area, so you can walk the Strip both day and night and go to rest to your accommodation in between easily.
Don't underestimate the distances! Although on the map it seems that all the hotels are close, as we've already mentioned, from one end of the Strip to the other there are many kilometers (or miles). Keep this in mind! The hotels located more towards the ends, being farther away, are usually the cheapest.
Choosing one of them isn't a problem either, as you can always use the services of the Deuce bus line: it runs along the Strip from end to end 24/7 stopping at the main hotels, as well as connecting with the Fairmont Street.
Best themed hotels on Las Vegas Strip
Although on the Strip (and the nearby streets) there're hotels of all kinds, the most striking are the themed ones. Some of the best hotels to stay on the Strip in Las Vegas are themed! They're massive and resort-type (all with their corresponding Resort Fee, of course) and with lots of facilities inside (gym, casino, restaurants, etc.).
If you've decided that you want to stay in one of them (they're actually very cool!), we've created one of our informative tables so that you can see all the advantages and disadvantages of each one in a clear way. As you'll see, the price varies a lot depending on the day of the week and the season. So when we say that a hotel is affordable, it is on some days (not all!).

Other hotels on Las Vegas Strip
In addition to all the themed hotels, the Strip is home to many other accommodations that are also worth it. There're so many that it's impossible to talk about them all, but we've selected what we believe are the 5 best for their value for money (taking into account different budgets):
💲💲Sahara Las Vegas: modern hotel located on the north side of the Strip (ideal if you don't want to be in the core). It has several pools, casino, spa, gym, restaurants and rates include parking and wifi. Price: from $80/night. Book it here.
💲💲The Carriage House: if you're looking for a hotel next to the Strip, but on a quiet street so you can get a good rest, we think this one is perfect and also affordable. It's ideal for families and has some studio rooms with a small kitchen. It has a pool and no Resort Fee supplement. Price: from $105/night. Book it here.
💲💲Casino Royale: although it has a bit of a retro style, we like this hotel for its location and because it doesn't charge any extra fees. It includes free parking, unlimited wifi and no Resort Fee. Despite this, it has a swimming pool, casino, restaurants and gym. Price: from $112/night. Book it here.
💲💲💲ARIA Resort: very modern skyscraper-style hotel located south of the Strip. It has several pools and restaurants, plus spa, gym and casino. It's an expensive hotel but you can also find deals. Price: from $170/night. Book it here.
💲💲💲💲Bellagio: one of the best places to stay in Las Vegas! This legendary hotel located in the center of the Strip is famous for the light and music show of its fountain. Elegant, with pools, casino, gym, restaurants and a botanical garden that we find spectacular. Although it's generally expensive, you can find cheaper rates if you have flexibility of dates (although it never hurts to treat yourself 😉). Price: from $220/night. Book here.

Hotels in Downtown Las Vegas
Downtown Las Vegas is the other area we recommend to stay in the city. It would probably not be the one we would choose for a first time, but for successive times. Here it's easy to find free street parking and prices are usually cheaper than on the Strip, so it's the ideal area to find cheap hotels in Las Vegas.
Here is one of the biggest attractions of the city: Fremont Street. This street is crazy, but once you get out of it and move away a little bit you'll find a pretty quiet area, lots of bars and restaurants, cool places like the Container Park and the famous chapels to get married. We were also surprised by the large number of law offices there!
You'll find all the hotels in Las Vegas Downtown here, but here are our 5 favorites. There are both resorts with their own casino and more modest options, but they all have pools!

Cheap hotels in Las Vegas
If you're looking for affordable places to stay in Las Vegas that aren't in the boondocks, we've already taken care of finding them for you 😉 We've already told you about some of them, but we leave you the whole list together to make it easy for you.
Remember that rates can be very variable depending on the day of the week and the season, but with flexibility you can find ridiculous prices in these hotels that we recommend (from $60 per night in a double room!). Keep an eye on them for the dates you plan to go, hopefully the magic will happen! 🪄

Hotels in Las Vegas without the Resort Fee suplement
Want to get rid of the Resort Fee? That senseless surcharge that many hotels add for the use of their facilities (as if you don't pay enough to swim in the pool or use the gym!). In fact, it's a stealth price hike!
There're several hotels in Las Vegas without Resort Fee, although don't think that the price difference is going to be abysmal. But hey, we leave the information and you decide! 🤗
