Page is undoubtedly the best base for exploring some of major attractions in northern Arizona, such as the world-famous Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, as well as dozens of natural wonders that tend to fly under the radar. It’s also a good place to stay if you want to visit Monument Valley without paying for the expensive hotels overlooking these monoliths, even though it’s a 2-hour drive away.

Page is a small town with just 7,000 residents, so we can't divide it into neighborhoods the way we do with other large cities like San Francisco or New York. However, we can distinguish between the town of Page itself and some nearby areas that offer different experiences.

Page, the most convenient option for staying near Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend
Staying in the city of Page is the most convenient option, since that’s where you’ll find all the local amenities. There are many restaurants, supermarkets, gas stations, tour agencies, and a wide variety of accommodations here, ranging from large American chain hotels to motels and more charming boutique-style options.
💡 If this is your first visit and you're interested in exploring Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, staying in the town of Page is your best option
Staying here doesn't mean you'll be able to do without your rental car in the United States or your own vehicle, since it's not possible to reach the tourist attractions on foot, and public transportation in Page is extremely limited.

Wingate by Wyndham Page Lake Powell
This American chain hotel is one of the best places to stay in Page because it's brand-new, the rooms are spacious, and the beds are very comfortable. It's quiet and includes breakfast in the rate, as well as a gym, an indoor pool, and a small hot tub.
It's located on US-89, right next to the Glen Dam overlook, so you won't have any trouble finding parking. If you want to go downtown to eat or run any errands, it's only a 2-minute drive.
Garner Hotel Page
Located very close to the previous one, this hotel is a perfect and slightly more affordable option if you'd like to stay on the outskirts of the city in a spectacular setting. It also features spacious rooms, king size comfortable beds, and breakfast included in the rate, which has good reviews.
It also has a small gym, indoor pool, and free parking, making it a very good place to stay in Page.
The Wesley Boutique Hotel
A newly renovated hotel located in downtown Page. Its modern and distinctive style has earned it the title of “first boutique hotel in Page,” even though it is actually the oldest hotel in the city, having been built by workers at Glen Dam during the 50s. A blend of history and innovation!
The rooms are beautifully decorated and feature every amenity; the facade is covered with murals depicting Arizona, and the hotel has a fairly large fitness center and an outdoor pool, both of which are open all day. It also offers free parking for guests.
Red Rock Motel
If you're looking for an affordable hotel in Page, this is probably your best option without sacrificing comfort and a good location. Although it's a motel, it's located right in the heart of the city, is quiet, and has well-maintained rooms—though it's true that they aren't as spacious as those at the previous options.
It features an outdoor terrace with tables and chairs where you can have a barbecue if you'd like, and you also have the option to book small, fully equipped apartments and studios.
Wahweap, for staying by Lake Powell
The Wahweap area is located about 13 km (8 mi) from the town of Page (a 15-minute drive) and is the best place to stay in Page with views of Lake Powell. In addition to being surrounded by scenery that’s much more beautiful than what the city has to offer, from here you can enjoy water activities on the lake such as this Lake Powell scenic cruise, or you can even rent a Jet Ski or a Powerboat and explore at your own pace.
In addition, there are major tourist attractions nearby, such as Lone Rock Beach (perfect for swimming on the hottest days) and Wahweap Viewpoint, which gives you and excellent views of Lake Powell and the vast landscape surrounding it.
There are hardly any restaurants in this area, so you'll have to make do with the options offered at your hotel, or else you'll have to travel to Page to eat.

Lake Powell Resort
This is the main hotel in Wahweap, specifically located in the marina area, from which boats depart for activities on Lake Powell.
The best thing about this hotel is definitely its location right by the lake, so if you decide to stay here, choose a room with a view; otherwise, you can always head to the pool and restaurant area to enjoy the panoramic view.
The downsides of this resort are that it’s a bit outdated and, since it’s located within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, you have to pay $30 per vehicle. This fee isn’t included in the hotel rate, but you can save it if you have the America the Beautiful annual park pass.
Big Water, peace and nature near Page
Big Water is a small town located 27 km (17 mi) from Page (about a 20-minute drive) and in the state of Utah. There are hardly any amenities here; instead , it’s a place surrounded by nature, offering unique and somewhat exclusive lodging options.
Big Water is home to one of the four visitor centers at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument—a must-see if you’re interested in geological formations and dinosaurs, as it features several paleontological discoveries from the area (including fossils and dinosaur bones). Plus, from here, you’ll be very close to some of the most impressive places to see around Page.
We wouldn't recommend this area if you can only spend one night in Page and your plan is to visit only Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend before heading on to the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley. It would be a good option if you want to spend more than one day in the area, are looking for peace and quiet and a connection with nature, or want to celebrate a special occasion.

Under Canvas Lake Powell
This wonderful glamping-style accommodation consists of cozy, fully equipped canvas tents, each with a private bathroom and terrace, comfortable beds, and beautiful decor.
The setting is wonderful, and there are several outdoor common areas where you can relax and enjoy yourself, such as areas with lounge chairs where you can read that book you brought on vacation, or spaces where you can build a bonfire in the evenings. It also has a restaurant with a varied menu, so you don’t have to worry about meals.
The Lotus Yurt Lake Powell
Another place to stay near Page—also located in Big Water—is this one, which will transport you to Central Asia. Here, the rooms are beautiful yurts that leave nothing to be desired, not only because of their exquisite decor, but also because they even feature a private bathroom with a shower, air conditioning, and a small kitchen with a microwave.
Staying here means enjoying nature and peace and quiet without sacrificing comfort. It's wonderful!
Marble Canyon, for water activities on the Colorado River
Marble Canyon is a small community located about 60 km (37 mi) from Page (a 45-minute drive). You're probably wondering... why am I being recommended a place that's so far from Page? The reason is clear: it's only 10 minutes from Lees Ferry.
Lees Ferry, in addition to its historical significance, stands out as the only place within Glen Canyon where you can drive your own car right up to the banks of the Colorado River. This is the starting point for multi-day rafting trips down the Colorado River, boat and rafting tours in Horseshoe Bend, and kayaking tours that surround the famous meander. It’s also the ideal base if you want to explore the charms of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.
Therefore, it's the perfect place to stay if you're interested in water activities on the Colorado River and kayaking near Horseshoe Bend, as well as a great place to stop if you're planning to visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Marble Canyon has that Wild West vibe we love so much, and although it's tiny, it has a good restaurant, a small grocery store, and a gas station. While you're here, you can also take the opportunity to visit Navajo Bridge, a historic bridge that crosses the Colorado River.
Marble Canyon Lodge
The only place to stay in Marble Canyon is this newly renovated lodge, which offers modern, tastefully decorated cabins and rooms. Its setting, filled with Navajo sandstone formations, is breathtaking—you can admire it at sunset from your own terrace or in the common area by a campfire!
You can park for free right in front of your room, and the restaurant—which is part of the same hotel—is just a few steps away.

What's the best area to stay in Page?
Page is the best option for most travelers, especially if it’s your first visit and you want to explore Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. That’s where you’ll find the widest selection of hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and services, and you’ll also be just a few minutes’ drive from the main attractions. If your priority is enjoying Lake Powell or the Colorado River, or if you’re looking for a quieter setting, you might want to consider staying in Wahweap, Big Water, or Marble Canyon.
How many nights is it worth staying in Page?
For most itineraries, one or two nights are enough. With just one night, you can combine Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon and continue on to your next destination the following day. If you want to do an activity at Lake Powell or go kayaking or take a boat tour at Horseshoe Bend, then we recommend staying two nights to explore the area at a more leisurely pace.
Is it better to stay in Page or Kanab?
It depends on your itinerary. Page is much more convenient if you want to visit Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Lake Powell, since they're all very close by. Kanab might be a better option if you're planning to visit places like Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Staircase-Escalante, or The Wave.
What's the best place to stay near Antelope Canyon?
Page is the most convenient option, since tours of the different sections of Antelope Canyon depart from locations very close to the city, so staying here will allow you to get there quickly in time for the tour start time.
What's the best place to stay near Horseshoe Bend?
If you want to visit the overlook, Page is the best option because of its proximity. If you want to do water activities at Horseshoe Bend, such as kayaking or a boat tour, then Marble Canyon is the closest option.
Is it worth staying in Wahweap?
Yes, if you want to enjoy Lake Powell and get great views of the lake. Wahweap has a more natural setting and is right next to the marina, so it's a good choice if you're planning to do water activities. For a trip focused solely on Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, we prefer Page because of its wider selection of hotels and amenities.
Is it worth staying in Big Water?
Big Water is a good option if you're looking for peace and quiet, a more natural setting, and more exclusive accommodations. It may also be worth considering if you want to explore Grand Staircase-Escalante or if your itinerary takes you further south through Utah. However, for a short stay focused on Antelope Canyon, and Horseshoe Bend, Page is more convenient.
Is it expensive to stay in Page?
Although prices vary considerably depending on the time of year, Page is generally an expensive place to stay because of the many tourist attractions in the surrounding area. In the summer and during peak seasons, hotel rates can rise significantly, while during the off-season it’s possible to find more affordable options.
Are there any affordable hotels in Page?
Yes, since there’s a fairly wide range of options, you can find motels at pretty good prices, especially during the off-season. When comparing options, don’t just look at the price: check to see if breakfast is included, if there’s a pool, the cancellation policy, and the location, since small differences in price can be offset by the amenities the accommodation offers.
Is it necessary to get around by car in Page?
Absolutely yes, since Page is a place designed to be explored by car, and you’ll need to drive to visit Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and other sites. Also, if you’re taking a road trip through Arizona and Utah, you’ll typically drive to Page from the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Kanab, or other destinations, since flights to its airport are still limited.
Can you sleep inside Antelope Canyon?
No. Antelope Canyon is not a town or a destination with hotels where you can stay inside the canyon. The usual option is to stay in Page and travel from there to the meeting point for the tour you've booked.
